Our Current Learning:

During Term 1 students will be investigating the world of Population in Geography. This unit begins with an exploration of the basics of population dynamics, including patterns of growth, distribution, and density. We then look at the factors that influence population change and distribution, as well as the impact of population on the environment. Key areas of study are as follows:

  • What factors drive changes in population numbers and demographics over time?
  • Why is the distribution of human populations not even across the world, and what factors influence this distribution?
  • What are the drivers of urbanisation, and how does the growth of cities create both challenges and opportunities?
  • What are the causes of migration, and what are the social, economic, and environmental impacts of migration on both origin and destination regions?
  • What are the consequences of overpopulation and underpopulation and how can these challenges be addressed?
Students will engage with this topic through a variety of activities, including group discussions, data analysis, case studies, and research projects. They will apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios
