Level 2 Business BTEC: Term 3

Welcome to BTEC Business

Welcome to BTEC Business Level 2 at BISAD. This is a very exciting year as this is our first BTEC Level 2 cohort as the programme has just been introduced to BISAD this year!

BTECs enable a learner-centered approach to education, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied to project-based assessments. BTECs focus on the holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be successful in employment and higher education.

Students will complete a series of units and will be assessed in various ways. Assessments and projects are chosen to help learners progress; this means that some assessments and projects are set by us to meet local needs, while others are set by Pearson, ensuring a core of skills and understanding common to all learners.

Programme structure

Our current learning

In the first half of term 1, students will be completing Unit 2: Business Organisations. In this unit, students will learn about how different businesses have different aims and objectives and how they then structure themselves to meet them. Students will investigate business activities and how they may help businesses to meet their aims and objectives. Students will explore the different functional areas that exist in different businesses and how the interaction between them will also help the business achieve its aims and objectives. As students are new to BTEC, they will be learning how to write academically as this will be an important component of the coursework they complete.

New starters

For students who are new to both the school and the subject of business, it's essential to adopt a proactive approach to their studies. Business is inherently current and dynamic, making it crucial for newcomers to regularly follow the news and stay updated on industry trends and developments. This practice not only deepens their understanding but also provides insights into the challenging and ever-evolving business landscape. Additionally, students should be prepared to harness their creativity skills, as business often involves innovative problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking. Being organized and methodical in their approach to coursework is essential, as it helps manage the multifaceted aspects of business studies effectively. Moreover, a commitment to reviewing and reflecting on their work is key to continuous improvement, enabling students to refine their skills and knowledge in the subject and excel in their business endeavors.
