Welcome to Psychology at BIS AD! 

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. It explores how individuals think, feel, and act in various situations, aiming to understand the underlying processes that govern human cognition and actions. Psychologists employ a range of research methods to investigate topics such as memory, emotions, social interactions, and mental health, ultimately seeking to uncover insights into the complexities of human thought and behaviour.

As a GCSE student, you will study different ideas and conduct research to understand them better. Then, you will practice thinking critically, which means looking at information carefully and asking questions. You will use what you've learned to solve real-life problems. For example, you might figure out how to help someone who's feeling sad or how to make a product more appealing to customers. You also learn to do this in a fair and ethical way, making sure you treat people right. So, you will be acting like a detective trying to understand why people act the way they do and using that knowledge to make the world better.

Our current learning

In the first term, students will focus on two main areas. They'll learn research methods used in psychology, such as experiments and surveys, and study how data is collected and analyzed. They'll also explore memory, covering topics like how we remember and forget information, memory processes, and memory disorders. This term may involve hands-on memory experiments.

Students will begin to develop their understanding, application, and evaluation skills, which combined with the content above, will help them work towards their Paper 1 IGCSE exam.
