What home learning should I expect my child to complete?

Home learning in Year 7 is broken down into tasks we advise are completed, and optional tasks. Students at BIS Abu Dhabi are often involved in many after school activities, therefore home learning is structured so that there are a set number of tasks each week and these can be planned in advance to work alongside family life.

Guidance has been provided to aid you as parents to support your child by helping them to set an appropriate amount of work each week that fits in with your child's schedule. Please get in touch with Mrs. Baker, Head of Year 7 (kirsty.baker@bisad.ae) if you would like to discuss further.

We advise that students complete a maximum of 45 minutes in each of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science
  • Arabic
  • Islamic Studies
  • BISAD Diploma (15 minutes)

As parents, you will be able to see if and when your child has completed home learning in the 'Tasks' section of Firefly. If you and/or your child choose to not complete the home learning above, we will confirm this via email.

Of course, we are also aware that students should be able to pursue their passions in other subjects. Therefore, optional home learning projects will be available for other subject areas.  These projects will allow students to look at an area in more depth and exercise creativity.  There is no expectation that these are completed unless students choose to.

You can find more detail on these tasks using the subject links on this page.
