Welcome to Physical Education

Welcome to our Holistic ME in PE curriculum, where we are dedicated to nurturing the development of our students’ entire being. Our ME in PE curriculum encompasses six vital strands:

1. Physical ME: Through a variety of concepts and sports, we aim to enhance students’ physical literacy, efficiency of movement, body control, and overall fitness levels, ensuring they are not only active but also competent.

2. Healthy ME: The focus within this strand is on students developing healthy behaviours and attitudes. In addition, educating your child on the significance of balanced nutrition, hygiene, and overall well-being, fostering lifelong habits for a healthy lifestyle.

3. Thinking ME: In PE, we challenge students to think critically, strategize, and solve problems. These skills extend beyond the field and into their academic and personal lives.

4. Creative ME: We encourage self-expression and creativity through all our concepts. Enabling our students to explore their unique talents.

5. Social ME: Teamwork, communication, and empathy is integral to our curriculum. Thus, promoting positive relationships, leadership, and social responsibility amongst our students within PE.

6. Personal ME: Our focus within this strand is centered around developing student resilience, self-confidence, and self-awareness. Therefore, supporting students to develop the capacity needed to face challenges and succeed in all aspects of life.

We believe that a well-rounded education includes the holistic development of every child. Our Holistic ME in PE curriculum aims to inspire lifelong learners who are not only physically fit but also emotionally resilient, socially adept, and creatively driven.

Our current learning

In Term 2 of our ME in PE curriculum, we are thrilled to offer a diverse and inclusive program designed to foster physical literacy and a passion for lifelong fitness. For our girls, activities such as Water Polo, Athletics, Net & Wall Games, and Invasion Games will help develop teamwork, coordination, strategic thinking, and resilience. Similarly, our boys will engage in Athletics, Invasion Games, Water Polo, and Striking & Fielding Games, building endurance, strength, communication, and hand-eye coordination. These activities will not only improve students' physical fitness but also nurture essential life skills such as perseverance, leadership, and effective collaboration. By participating in a variety of sports, students will enhance their spatial awareness, decision-making abilities, and self-confidence, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of health and well-being. Through this holistic approach, we aim to empower all BISAD PE students with the skills and motivation to lead active, healthy lives.

As Head of Secondary PE, I would like to outline the requirements and the reasons behind them to ensure clarity and consistency across the school community.

Our school policy, in line with the PE department’s expectations, is designed to ensure that all students can participate safely, comfortably, and with respect to cultural sensitivities. We value and understand the diverse backgrounds of our student body, and as such, have taken great care to establish guidelines that promote inclusion and respect.

Through this holistic approach, we aim to empower all students with a solid foundation in physical literacy, ensuring they develop not only the necessary physical skills but also a lifelong passion for a healthy and active lifestyle. We look forward to a term filled with growth, fun, and learning for our BISAD PE students.

Curriculum Overview

PE Kit expectations

Please be aware of the following PE kit expectations within PE to ensure all students are well equipped and prepared for PE lessons. Wearing the full PE kit on designated PE days is not just school policy, it is key to students’ safety, comfort, and success within the PE curriculum.

For those participating in the swimming unit, please ensure students have their swimming essentials: a swimsuit or swim shorts, flip flops, a towel, swim hat, and goggles. These items are necessary for the enjoyment and safety during the aquatic based units delivered throughout the year.

Cultural respect and sensitivity adherence

Cultural respect and sensitivity are vital in our diverse community. Please remember to wear tracksuit bottoms, ensuring your knees are covered when attending other lessons during the allocated PE day. This simple act demonstrates respect for different cultural norms and values. Thus, ensuring we create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and understood.
