Please note! A correction has been made to Q6 in the worked answers of the revision questions below. If you have already completed the practice question and marked them, please check 6(b)(ii) carefully in the new answers below!
Everyone in Year 10 will sit a Paper 1 mock exam at the end of May.
The exam will be 110 marks in 120 minutes.
Everything that has been covered in Year 10 could be in the exam.
Checklist
Please read the notes at the end of the checklist carefully!
Guidance
Revision is more useful the more active you are. Reading over notes or revision guides can be helpful, but interacting with the information is even better!
Being specific is also smart. Use your checklist to identify the topics you feel less confident with, and study those.
You could:
- make revision notes
- make flashcards
- make mindmaps
There are loads of useful websites to help with revision too.
- quizlet is great for making online flashcards
- Seneca Learning tells you the content and then makes you interact with it by asking you questions
- Physicsandmathstutor has past paper questions (make sure you are using Edexcel IGCSE 9-1 questions)
- SaveMyExams also has past paper questions (make sure you are using Edexcel IGCSE 9-1 questions)
- Science with Hazel videos on youtube are great for explanations
Revision Questions
Once you have learned the material, it's a good idea to test how well you understand it. That's where past paper questions come in. Whether you do these under test conditions or with the support of your notes it totally up to you. However, you should spend almost as much time marking your practice questions as you spend answering them! Read the mark scheme carefully, see what they accept and what they don't. A large part of GCSE success is good exam techniques and knowing what examiners are looking for.
